A EXTENSÃO COMO POLÍTICA PÚBLICA DE TRANSFORMAÇÃO SOCIAL: ANÁLISE DA POLÍTICA DE EXTENSÃO NO IFSUL

Abstract

The study focuses on Instituto Federal Sul-rio-grandense extension policy, and aims the analysis of it in order to understand the conception of extension that guides it, how it develops and what is its line with the national extension politics. The study of Social Politics, Work, Professional Education and Extension, provided the technical support neededto the analysis. The paper was divided in four chapters, in the first we discussed the National Politics of Professional Education in Brazil, bringing the debate about the work formation, the historical and political context of professional education, its legal mark and the proposal to the Education, Science and Technology Federal Net and consequently to the Federal Institutes. Inthe second chapter, we discuss the importance of extension in Brazilian education and the role that it can take as an instrument of social change. In the third chapter we treated about the methodological path traversed, the methodological procedures used that included the documental analysis of the institutional norms and the semi-structured interview as well as frames with the dimensions and categories used to assist gathering and organization of the data and in the fourth chapter we presented the researched data and our analysis. When conducting the study we faced with a reality in construction, an extension proposal that intends to be aligned with an innovative conception, nationally adopted, and some extension actions developed based on old models. It is intended that the results serve to further analysis that may be undertaken by management in order to identify the needs of changing or correction in the development path of extension politics
